Start Off Your New Year Right!

Start off the New Year Running!

Run For A Healthy World (put on by World Runners) benefiting 2nd Harvest of San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. Now $30 - race day $35. 10K @ 9:30, 5K @ 10:00. Winter Workouts

Hi there hardy winter runners all....

For the next two weeks we'll be taking our holiday winter break. So keep up your base mileage and fitness so you'll be ready to hit the track again on January 6th!

Then we'll be running all winter long on Tuesday nights at the track.

On Tuesdays arrive by 6:00pm to warm up with an easy 4 laps then at about 6:15pm we will meet at the starting line to go over the workout for the night. Each week we'll have different distance of intervals (speed work) geared toward improving your 5K and 10K race times. So whether you run 10 minute per mile average pace or a 5 minute per mile average pace you can benefit from these W/Os.

Plus, you'll benefit from all the fun and camaraderie of a workout with your running friends. So see you in the New Year!

Dashing to the Track...

In a one-horse open sleigh....

Okay, I guess that doesn't work, but you get the point, it's the HOLIDAYS! Keep those eggnog pounds from hitching a ride on your waistline with some awesome track workouts. And keep fast and fit for any Jingle Bell 5Ks or New Year's Eve Dashes scheduled.

The calendar is now updated for the next few weeks so check out the schedule and come on out for a run. There will be no track workouts on the 23rd or the 30th for the Holidays. We'll be back on track on January 6th.

This week's (Dec. 2nd) workout is -

2 x 400 - 800 - 400

P.S. - The Web Maven will not be in attendance tomorrow. We are celebrating Princess Maya's 5th Birthday.

Trackarchy!

It's our own version of anarchy...Trackarchy!

Go crazy and run whatever you want at Tuesday Night Track next week. We did it this week too. The blog maven ran with a few trackies through Burlingame and Hillsborough for a nice 6 mile or so run. Good company, good stuff.

Trackarchy is brought to you by the High School Soccer Turkey Tournament, so we won't be able to run on the track next week but we can run all over the place instead.

Let's meet at the gate, group up and go!

And Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is traveling for the holiday next week.

South City Thanksgiving 5k Fun Run

Get in shape for turkey day by running a few miles at the 35th Annual Thanksgiving 5k Fun Run on November 22nd in South San Fran. There looks to be some good prizes, a raffle and lots of free grub. It should be a fun way to kick off the holiday season!

Miles for Migraine 5k/10K

Here's a race for a worthy cause. Millions of people suffer from debilitating migraine headaches. Migraines are not well understood so much more research is needed to find their causes and cures.

Miles for Migraine 5k/10k Race is being held to raise migraine awareness and to benefit research and education on migraine headaches. It's taking place on December 7th in lovely Golden Gate Park. Visit the website to sign up or to volunteer. It's a great way to see how much faster you've become after this season of track workouts!

1200 (long rest or full lap)
800 (90 second rest or half lap)
600 (90 second rest or half a lap)
400 (45 second rest or half lap)

During the week of Thanksgiving the track may be closed for a soccer tournament. Joe D. is going to check into it and see what the details are. Even so, we'll still meet and either do hill repeats or runs through the neighborhood together.

Winter Is Here!

Okay, so it's still fall, but we really have two seasons out here; warm and sunny and cold, rainy and dark. We've now hit cold rainy and dark. That's no excuse to not run though! We'll still be meeting out here on Tuesdays at the track for winter evening workouts. Some groups will head out on neighborhood runs and some will stay at the track. The track is a great place to run on dark winter evenings, there are lights and there are no roots or potholes to trip over on the track! So pick your poison and join us for a workout!

Headlamps

Some of you were admiring my lovely headlights that clip to my running hat and wondering where I got them. I got them at MetroSport. Currently they have both my headlight and my blinking light that I wear on the back of my head on order. (I told the general manager, also known as my Hubby to order them). I will let you all know here when they come in to the stores.

The Web Maven missed Nov. 4th's workout due to a three-year-olds meltdown. But I did get the workout in yesterday! I'll be back on the track next week! Please email me (link at the right) with any news or other info that you think should be posted here. Have a great week!
